The Drehstrom film production was the official film production partner of the iab webAD 2017, the award for digital advertising in Austria, and produced video clips for the award show on the 12th of October in Vienna. The videos presented the sponsors for the categories of awards and the wining projects. The atmosphere of the event was documented with a highlight video.
Helene Roba: It is, of course, a very personal award. It doesn't just concern the client, but oneself. And accordingly, it honors you, it makes you happy. So, I'm overjoyed.
Dominik Mikes: I will either frame my trophy or put it up in the company and look at it every day. I am very happy about it.
Thomas Mayer: So we are extremely happy about the award. For many reasons, because on the one hand, it is a confirmation of hard work, and on the other hand, it is also proof that we are perfectly in tune with the times.
Roland Fleck: Yes, we implemented an international campaign theme nationally very well together, and today we really cleaned up. And of course, we are happy about that.
Cosima Serban: It was certainly also the sophisticated combination of media and creation. New technology, new formats, hitting the right targeting clusters, and implementing everything performantly.
Philip Hartmann: And as Samsung, we are personally very happy that we were able to implement it together as a team with the creative agency and the media agency.
Martina Zadina: I think it was a great award show. We succeeded excellently in appropriately honoring the good works. And we have proven once again that we are the Lifeball of the awards scene.
Bernd Wilfinger: If you don't have an idea, you can't be honored in a creative jury. And we were looking for what best combines the digital prerequisites with a new, surprising idea.
Joachim Krügel: As an agency, you should be brave enough to set up the projects and then get them through, to argue for them. And the client should have the courage to implement it exactly like that.
Martina Zadina: In the last five years, since I've been president, we have extremely developed this event. The quality has been increased, the size, the professionalism. And I think they should just keep going like that. Then next year's webAD will be even more gigantic.
The iab webAD 2017 celebrated its 15th anniversary on October 12 at the Bank Austria Halle in Vienna’s Gasometer and set a new record with 245 submissions. A total of eight Gold, 18 Silver, and 20 Bronze awards were presented across 18 categories, including the newly introduced categories "Virtual & Augmented Reality" and "Native Advertising". The “Best in Show Media” award went to Samsung’s #BeFearless campaign, while T-Mobile’s “Techno ab Hof” received the “Best in Show Creative” title. Another standout was the “Schlepperkönig” campaign by Sea Eye, which received multiple awards. With around 1,000 guests, the event offered not only a stage for digital excellence but also ample opportunities for networking.
